STUDY 1

INTRODUCTION

The book of Ruth was a historical book during the time of Judges. It must ha v e been a history of events that took place within the fi rst one hundred(100) years of the conquest and occupation of Palestine. This is because one of the major character Boaz who later married Ruth the Moabites was said to be the son of Salmon that married Rahab the harlot of Jericho (Joshua 6:22-25; Ruth 4:21; Matt. 1:46).

The book illustrates the Jewish law of Kingman redemption and the care for the widow and the less privileged. The book also gave a brief genealogy of David from Pharez (the son of Judah) to David (Ruth 4:18-22).
