Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than thou shouldest vow and not pay” (Ecclesiastes 5:4 & 5).\nINTRODUCTION:- A lot of people make vows, pledges, promises, covenants, oaths etc and keep not to their words. God sees those people in the same category with an atheist- those that say in their hearts there is no God- they are FOOLS (Ps. 14:1; Eccl. 5:4).\nLESSON OUTLINES\n    1.) What are Vows, Pledges and Oaths?\nThough all of them look alike on the surface because they all have a binding on the person making it, yet there are little differences in their details.\n    • A Vow is a solemn promise or pledge to oneself or to another person or persons or even to a Deity (e.g God), to do or not to do something or to behave in a certain manner.\n    • While a Pledge is an assurance or a binding commitment to do or give or refrain from something.\n    • An Oath on the other hand is a solemn promise usually invoking a divine witness, regarding your future acts and behavior. It is also a commitment to tell the truth.\nVows are supposed to be lawful and made concerning right things, to be considered binding. Making vows, pledges, oaths and promises are considered a serious matter in the sight of God.\n\tThere is also a difference between vows and bond. A vow is positive while a bond is negative and destructive. By a vow a man might dedicate himself or some of his possessions to God or vow to accomplish some work for Him. By a bond, a man would cut himself off from some priviledges. A vow involves an obligation to do, while a bond involves an obligation to forebear doing.\n    2.) Different Types of Vows.\n    a.) A pledge to oneself e.g New year resolutions.\n    b.) A pledge to another person e.g. marriage vows.\n    c.) A pledge to an organization or nation e.g oath of office\n    d.) A pledge to God e.g consecrating oneself or one’s possession to the God and His service.\nSUMMARY AND CONCLUSION\n\tEvery word that proceeds out of our mouth is of great importance before God (Matt. 12:36-37).
